We’ve been pretty busy the last few days. It’s a lot of work being on a semi-permanent vacation. ha! It’s not enough to have one birthday this week but on Wednesday we celebrated my birthday. It was a nice start to the day at a fundraising meeting for an animal advocacy group (my USA friends will not be surprised that I’m throwing my hat into the volunteer area again). Dan was the substitute teacher for the day (not sure anyone really enjoyed that experience) and then we took off for Chitre to look for a few rugs for the concrete bunker that we call home. We tried a new restaurant (half chicken and a side of a starch – $4.50 – and SO YUMMY) and then checked out a few stores.
Rugs are really not common here and they certainly aren’t very big. We got two that looked big at the store but look more like a postage stamp in this house. Phinny is a fan, however.
We met up with some of the FamPats for dinner at a wonderful restaurant at a nearby beach. We got there too late for the sunset but we had a great time with just the adults having a leisurely dinner listening to the waves.
Today we met another expat couple from Canada who are thinking of relocating their family to Costa Rica or Panama. Showing them around Pedasi, the beaches and meeting the other FamPats was great fun. It’s like we’ve been here for years! We wrapped up the night at our favorite pizza place in Venao a few towns down the road.
There’s talk of a beach day tomorrow. I’ll see if we can fit it into our busy schedule!
