Rice! I made rice! Third time’s the charm because this time it worked! It’s amazing what a measuring cup and a bigger pot will do. No fish for dinner, though. The red pickup truck fish guy was on the road but he was delivering to the local restaurant and had no more fish for customers. Tomorrow, he said.
It was downright HOT today. We were melty and wetty after our 20 minute walk to school at 12:30. And of course there’s no a/c in our classrooms (which are the size of large closets). The Germans in my class didn’t want the fan on but they are all on one side so the two other Americans and I got the breeze. So far no rain at all today!
Haley and Zoe got their actual teacher today (there had been a sub due to a vacation) and are not overly in love. She speaks too much Spanish, they said. Ha! I’m thinking of asking the school to move Haley to Daniel’s class. She and Zoe spend a LOT of time together and a 4-hour break in the middle of the day might be very helpful for both of them (who am I kidding, Daniel and I need them to have a break from each other too).
Dan’s Spanish-learning progress can be summed up by his quote at dinner tonight: “I think it would be easier if I taught the entire country of Panama to speak English”. ha!
That’s all from here. The weekend will be a welcome break and we have some plans to explore the area. Surely we’ll have some great pictures to post so stay tuned!
