Colombia LOL

Have you been looking forward to our traditional LOL post about the place we’re leaving? I know you have! Well, when you aren’t country hopping like you’re playing hide and seek on a global scale, the LOLs just stack up. But now it’s time for Colombia LOL (that’s Laugh Out Loud for you folks new to the interwebs). Here are some fun things we saw while living in Medellin.

Wow, they really are serious about their New Years wishes here. Looks like a NYC store, but nope… it’s Medellin. Where English words don’t have quite the same impact.
Google translation while ordering Rappi. What if we don’t want a donkey?? (We ordered burritos and Google translated that to donkey because burritos are just small burros, of course!)
Rappi was suggesting items if you’ve had an “excess of partying”. Second on the list: beer.
French dads are coming with my chicken? I’m in! (Papas is Spanish for potatoes… so “french fries” somehow came out as “French Dads”.)
The expat group in Medellin was endless entertainment.
The sidewalk guide for blind individuals was a nice feature. Until BAM!! it wasn’t.
Hallmark could learn from this lovely saying.
This is a confetti cannon. “Householder” is an “adult”, I guess. And “No to wind!” Oh boy! I hear ya… that’s what I say every time I eat gluten.
I don’t know what BUTTHINR is but I think I could use a little bit of it.
This is my kind of refund! That’s approximately $5.7 Billion US dollars. Woo Hoo!!!
This is what we would call a “Rappi fail”. Sometimes the dude picking out our groceries seemed to have no brains. Smallest head of lettuce EVER.
A professional dog walker. If these dogs were our family, the little one in her arms would be Dan.
No separation of church and state here. The mayor uses God to tell people to slow down.
This is the Figure Shit Out method of making a construction fence. Well done, guys!
Anyone else see the problem here?
The construction workers sat here and ate lunch. I, too, like my lunch with an extra layer of pollution, in the middle of a busy road.
Another Rappi Fail, when I didn’t check the size of the sugar I was ordering. I ended up giving away half of this bag when we left.
The stores make no apologies for how long it takes to check out. They even put a chair somewhere in each line for people to sit down while they wait.
Random and offensive English words on clothing everywhere. Take it down a notch, would ya, Buddy???
More Rappi Fail. This is a LOT of cheese. You can see my computer mouse for size comparison. I suddenly had a desire to make lasagna.
The malls were all very dog-friendly but dogs were not allowed on escalators. It was so cute to see large dogs being carried like toddlers. Two people we knew did not heed the dog-carrying advice and both doggies needed medical care on their feet!
Someone apparently was very adept at removing the good stuff and leaving behind the shells. Now that takes time and skill.

That’s all we’ve got, folks! That’s it for Medellin and Colombia! We hope you enjoyed this chapter of our blog. Stay tuned for more adventures, stories and LOLs. The hits just keep on coming!
