A: Of course we miss our friends and family but other than that probably just the comforts and ease of life. In the USA, internet is reliable and fast. Food is fast, plentiful, easy and many times, inexpensive. Stores are fully stocked and logical. Restaurants have the stuff they advertise on the menu. Things like that. We take much of those facts for granted as Americans (yeah, you too Canada). But we don’t miss the compulsion towards perfection that we feel when we’re in the USA. When you’ve been out of the country for a while and you go back, you notice the marketing that creates issues you didn’t know you had. (Example: Laser hair removal? Oh! Yes! Maybe I need to have some hair removed! Plastic plates for the patio? Yes, of course we need those!) When the typical American looks around their house (us included when we were there) the vast majority of what they own is simply not necessary to live their life. When you live out of a suitcase, you become acutely aware of that fact. But other than that, we’d all agree that it’s Red Robin. We miss Red Robin. 🙂
