Bus to Boquete

Allison Sherman Posted onOctober 12, 2014December 19, 2016 Leave a Comment 967 Views

Today’s recap will be in the form of HAPPY and CRAPPY. Happy is as follows: 1. Arrived at the bus station, navigated tickets, breakfast and bus boarding all by 7:45 a.m. Shermans are not morning people so this is an act of God. 2. A tasty lunch in Santiago where the bus stopped for a break. Allison is now eating more like a Panamanian. Dan and the kids notsomuch. 3. Safe arrival into David and easy taxi to Boquete (we decided to skip the rental car hassle and wing it with taxis and walking in Boquete) 4. Nice apartment in Boquete in an absolutely BEAUTIFUL resort. 5. Yummy dinner in Boquete followed by successful (albeit a little overwhelming) grocery shopping for meals tomorrow. 6. Despite the rain (see crappy) it’s not as “wetty” here. PJs do not feel damp. That’s HAPPY!

Now for the crappy: 1. The bus driver played loud non-melodious Latin music for 6 straight hours. 2. The temperature on the bus was probably below freezing. The girls and I had blankets but Dan didn’t get the warning about the cold until the luggage had already left with the delivery service. 3. The bus seats were pretty uncomfortable unless you were under 5 feet tall. So therefore 3 of us did OK. 4. It’s raining here. Like full on OREGON rain. It’s still warm (if you aren’t chilled from 8 hours in a freezing bus) but it’s rain and we needed umbrellas. This makes for a Very Cranky Dan. 5. Dan’s phone and cell service are acting up. This makes for a Very VERY Cranky Dan.

Despite the crappy parts, it was a good day. If for no other reason than we now get to spread out a bit, the girls have their own room and we can cook and eat at “home” and do laundry! When have I ever been so excited about cooking and laundry? Tomorrow is an open day with no plans (maybe buying a sweater for Dan?) but we hope to meet the expat Smith family whom we have befriended online.

Oh, and we located our language school, which they said was an easy 15 minute walk from where we are staying. Well, maybe from the ENTRANCE to our resort but from our apartment it’s more like 30 minutes. But it’s still lovely and if it’s not raining we’ll probably walk to school a lot.

That’s the haps for today! Hasta luego!

Walking to town. This is still in our neighborhood. The sidewalks in town are not this nice.
