You know you aren’t in the USA when your daughter is told to bring a knife to school. They are learning food names in English class and they’ll be making a salad.
UPDATE: 52 minutes later it turns out we were wrong. She was not supposed to bring a knife and cutting board to school. She was supposed to cut it at home. But she’s not sure what “it” is. So I went back to the school to pick up the erroneous knife and cutting board. This is just the usual cluelessness that we have when it comes to public school.
UPDATE #2: Another hour has passed and I just got a call from Zoe. Indeed, she needs the cutting board but also two forks and two knives. We are unsure about the sharp cutting knife. So off I go to the school for the 3rd time to deliver said salad items.
Just another day bumbling through pubic school in Panama.
