Updates from Haley

Haley Sherman Posted onJanuary 3, 2016September 9, 2018 Leave a Comment 1393 Views

Hi everyone! It’s Haley, and I’m back with more pictures, and I also decided to write this week because I feel like I haven’t updated everyone in a while.

So, as all of you know, we moved to Mexico. I love it here so far. I love the food, the nice people, the weather (for the most part), pretty much everything. I’m enjoying how much free time I have here, too. Now that we have a different way of homeschooling I have a lot more free time than I ever did in Panama, which lets me pursue activities that I had been really wanting to do before we moved, such as piano, photography, programming, baking, etc.

On the topic of food, I am in heaven. I never realized how much I love Mexican food until we got here. Whether it’s a burrito, taco, empanada, or even some traditional Mexican chips, sign me up. As long as it’s not too spicy. Sadly, I have a very low tolerance for spicy things. I never really used to like Mexican food in the states, but I’ve realized that it’s much better in it’s actual birthplace; Mexico.

I have yet to meet friends here, but I still feel like my Spanish is coming along nicely. For example, today I went to the movies and watched Alvin and the Chipmunks (in Spanish) with Zoe, and I could understand at least 90% of it. I go outside a lot more than I used to in Panama, whether it be for lunch at Subway or grocery shopping for my baking supplies. I also have started playing some of my favorite video games in Spanish, just for a little bit of extra practice. I’m starting to feel like I can really speak and understand the language much better than I used to.

Thats all I have to say for right now, so here are some of the pictures I’ve taken recently!

This is one of the signs at the playground. I saw the sunset behind it and thought it would be a great color splash picture.
This was tonight’s sunset from my balcony. I have a feeling you guys are going to be seeing a lot of these, because they’re very pretty.
Another one of the Christmas decorations around the neighborhood. This one was behind the kids’ playground.
