A: Allison speaks Spanish (read this FAQ to learn why) and the girls are learning it fast. Dan… well he doesn’t. But that’s OK. He gets by just fine. Especially with three ladies in his house that speak Spanish. Having someone local who cooks for us and sending the girls to the local school was extremely rewarding and a great way to learn and practice our language skills. When we travel to another country that does not speak Spanish, we muddle through like everyone else does. Google translate is a great tool. We don’t expect the girls to become fluent in any other language other than Spanish but you never know. Zoe has loaded her iPod with songs in at least 5 languages. Haley likes to watch soap operas in Japanese. Maybe Spanish is only the beginning?
