It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. We got our tree up and there are even a few gifts under it! Today we heard about a tree decorating party in the town square for the kids so we ventured over there to check it out. They were making some ornament crafts to hang on the very large fake tree that was in the square. Then they were putting lights on the tree. I think multiple strings of lights had the little carols that played continuously but they were not synced up. It was a little crazy sounding. I’m not clear what they’ll do with the tree when it rains but it seems to be staying put.
This time I didn’t wait to talk to anyone and made friends right away. Then I saw some other locals I knew so I hung out with them for awhile. I like the ask the same question to a number of different people to see what variety of answers I get. Right now I’m investigating what is being built across the street to the left. I’m narrowing down on a common answer but not totally clear about it just yet. Stay tuned.
When we got back home Zoe and I stopped by the neighbor’s house across the street and she showed us her daughter’s very extensive village / manger scene arrangement. She’s been collecting scenes for 38 years. She was not finished but when she is I’ll take pictures to show you.
Tomorrow we head to the city (Panama City – the big one!) for a little shopping at a gigantic mall. We’ll probably see crazy crowds because it’s payday AND as part of a labor law, all Panamanians get an extra paycheck tomorrow. Our timing is bad but we have no choice – Phinny arrives on Wednesday so now is the time to go and do a little shopping before picking him up. We can’t wait to see our doggie!!! The rest of the family can’t wait til I stop stressing about the doggie travelling internationally!!! ha!
Here is a picture of Zoe at the craft making party, and a picture of our tree. We’ll be sure to post about any adventures we have in the city, and for sure a very happy post when Phinny is with us once again.
